It began at the age of 15, with a mic from Radio Shack, an 8 track recorder, and a couple of guitars. It was June of 1980 and my bandmate and I, John Cusimano began the process of recording a batch of newly written songs to send to John Lennon. The goal: to get his opinion, and maybe his help. The concept was naive and the songs were raw, but seeds were planted. Sadly, Lennon never heard the tape, but the project grew into a lifelong songwriting partnership that has yielded a catalog of over 100 songs.
In addition to my writing partnership with John Cusimano, my musical interests encompass other areas. I am one half of The Bud Brothers and in this context my songwriting focuses more on humor and parody. As I have reengaged as a film artist my writing and recording activities have expanded into the area of soundtracks/soundscapes. The recording process has certainly changed in the intervening years and my writing is certainly more refined. What hasn't changed for me, however, is the passion and joy that I still feel for the craft of songwriting. |
